Couple Counseling
My personal research has shown that the coping patterns of one member of a couple experiencing infertility can have a direct impact on the infertility stress, marital adjustment, and depression levels experienced by his or her partner. Working as a couple is the optimal form of therapy when dealing with infertility as it truly is a couples issue. As couples work together to cope with the experience of infertility, they can provide mutual support and jointly work together to overcome this challenge.
Individual Counseling
I work with men and women experiencing infertility to help them manage the difficulties inherent in this experience. Individuals may prefer to receive therapy without their partner present, or their partner may be unable or unwilling to attend sessions. Sometimes partners find they prefer to meet individually in therapy to discuss the stress and difficulty associated with the infertility experience.
Group Counseling
Group therapy has been shown to reduce emotional distress in individuals and couples experiencing infertility. Group therapy is a unique form of treatment in which participants have an opportunity to share their own experiences as well as hear the experiences of others in similar situations. This is particularly powerful for individuals and couples experiencing infertility. Three forms of groups may be available - couples only, women only, and men only. Groups will last between 10-12 weeks, be created based on demand, and will include 6-8 members.
